[In real life, what is your name?] Alyssa
[In real life, are you 13 years old or older?] Yes, I’m 18.

[Name:] Raina Balev
[Age:] 13
[Birth date:] October the 31st, 1994
[Year:] Raina is in her 3rd year at Durmstrang Institute
[Bloodline:] Pure blood
[Wand:] Yew, 13 inches with a dragon heart string core.
[Broom:] Nimbus Two Thousand and One
[Physical Description:]
Raina has shoulder length, layered, dark brown hair and dreamy dark brown eyes to match. She has light olive skin, a thin boyish figure and is of average height. She has a quite thin and angular face and nice high cheek bones; her cheek bones are her favourite feature. Raina has a very dreamy, faraway quality to her features identical to her pensive personality. She feels most comfortable in her own style of clothing and cares little for what is popular or looks best. Although she appears in many different, strange types of attire, she is always seen with a ribbon (which changes colour daily) strung around her neck and a pair of black top hat earrings. Raina does wear make up, in shades that match her skin tone.
[Personality:]
Raina is a very distant and dreamy person. A lot of people don’t like her because she is so strange but nevertheless if they would take time to really get to know her they would find (although she says and thinks a lot of weird things) she is a very nice, kind and funny person. She can be a little cold especially if her ideas of things are accused of being wrong or told that things she believes in don’t exist. She is a very strong-minded and loyal person. She would go to the ends of the earth and back for those she loves. She is very comfortable with who she is and, even though many wouldn’t believe it, radiates confidence. Despite her dreamy qualities, she is quite awake to the world around her and sees things many others seem to miss; in dark times she sees the light… even if it is extremely small. She is a very hopeful person and is always excited to see what lies in store for tomorrow. Raina also loves a practical joke as long as it isn’t meant to hurt anyone and is quite the prankster, (although she never executes them… only plans them). The last important thing that you should know about Raina is that she loves to laugh. I believe it runs through the family.
[Strengths:] Her determination would be her strongest characteristic. She is also a good student although not the best, (mainly because she gets into arguments with teachers about her ideas on things). Her best subject is potions; perhaps it is because she loves to experiment with chemicals, she seems to know a lot about a range of potions. She is also very good with creatures of all kind, being able to connect with them in a way little people understand.
[Weaknesses:] Her aloof personality would be her down fall. She finds it very hard to make friends (although this doesn’t seem to bother her). Many people also pick on her because of this. She is also extremely bad at flying and far much prefers to keep her feet on the ground; she find Quidditch boring and doesn’t understand many of the rules.
[Place of Birth:] Raina was born in the city of Rousse. Her family still live there in a small two story block.
[Nationality:] Bulgarian
[Languages:] Bulgarian, English and a little German.
[Parents:] Her father and the head of the house is Trifon Balev. He is 47 years of age. Trifon was born in Rousse, on the 3rd of September, in 1960 to Raina’s strict and grumpy áàáà (grandmother), Anka Balev. Trifon has dark hair and eyes like his daughter, dark olive skin and an unkempt beard. He is quite tall, has a stocky build and a very thick heavy accent. Unlike his daughter, Trifon knows too much of the harshness of the world and is a very grounded person. His persona is wild like that of his shoulder length hair and he has a bad temper. Despite his quick temper, his children and wife always are able to calm him down. Like his daughter his family means everything to him.
Raina’s mother is Mila (Veneva<her maiden name) Balev. She is 42 years of age. Mila was born to the north of the capital Sofia, on the 22nd of June, in 1965 to Raina’s cheery and funny äÿäî è áàáà (grandparents) Sergey and Rada Veneva. Mila also has dark hair and eyes like that of all the members in the family, light olive skin like her daughter and a silky, soft voice. She is also quite tall with a thin, willowy body. She is much like her voice; a very soft and delicate person. She is very quite and cool and brings calm to all those around her. She is the brightness in her children and husbands lives.
[Siblings:] Raina has two younger brothers; twins by the names of Toma and Angel. They are both 9 years of age and the most bizarre brothers a sister could have; both playful, pranksters and pleasant. Like their sister and father, they were born in Rousse, on the 1st of January, 1998. Raina loves them to bits and they look up to her as their hero of a sister.
Together her family is the wildest, silliest, loudest and most amazing family Raina could ever find.
[History:] At birth it was obvious to everyone in her family (all who were pure blood witches and wizards up to the 12th century) that Raina was a witch. She came out, silent and with no a single cry (which confused the muggle doctors to no end) and hours later was staring coolly around the room at her family. From then onwards Raina was always a quite baby, never complaining or crying. She laughed very often and was frequently found with either her mothers or fathers wand in her chubby little hands. As she grew older many odd and bizarre things occurred around her; like the post barking loudly and chasing after the post man (who had to have his memory modified), the cookie jar mysteriously refilling itself even if Raina kept on continuously eating the cookies inside and her teddy bear which kept losing his head and then finding it again (all on his own). If this had been happening to any other person they might have believed that they were going crazy but Raina took this all in her stride. She had been growing up around magic since the day she was born and so nothing seemed out of the ordinary at all.
When Raina was 4 her twin brothers were born. Raina was over the moon when they finally came home and Raina could hold them. However they soon grew up (fast) and began to grow on Raina’s nerves too. Despite this she still loved them and still does to this day. They even taught Raina how to enchant the toaster so that when the toast was done it shot out of the toaster and exploded in a huge show of sparks, in the air. (They were only 4 years of age when they did this. Raina believes they will make amazing wizards once they start attending school). Their father spent a long time trying to fix the toaster but in the end gave up and bought a new one. No one, except for Raina knew that the twins had enchanted it.
At the age of 5 her grumpy grandmother Anka Balev came to stay with them, as her father Trifon believed the manor in which Anka lived was too unsafe for his mother. Raina wasn’t looking forward to this at all as Anka had never been very nice to Raina. On her fourth birthday while everyone else gave her enchanted toys and eatable clothing, Anka had giving her whack around the head, saying that she would appreciate it in the long run. Then at Christmas last year she had given Raina a smelly old shoe and photo of her long dead great grandparents. Despite her previous experiences with her scary grandmother, Anka turned out to be an amazing, if a little rough, witch. During her stay (which was meant to last a few weeks, lasted years, even up till now) Anka taught Raina how to pick locks without magic, how to sound proof a room and make herself invisible. Her previous hatred towards Anka soon disappeared and something resembling love took its place. Anka even taught the twins how to befuddle the pots and pans in the kitchen so that they flew around knocking into one another, making a loud ruckus. Mila had not been very happy about that.
Raina was forced to attend Muggle school when she had reached the age of 6. Her parents believed that this would educate their daughter so that she understood that Muggles were not the stupid and inferior people many pure bloods made them out to be. Although Raina didn’t quite agree with her parents, believing that they were quite stupid, she soon found she became quite fond of Muggles pitying them for not knowing anything about the magic world. However on her parent’s orders she kept her secret quiet and never performed in magic at school. Then, finally, at the age of 11 Raina received her congratulatory letter from Durmstrang that she had been accepted and she was expected to begin the first term in September. Raina was so exciting on getting her letter that she tripped over the some of the stairs on the staircase, racing up to tell her brothers. That night they celebrated with fireworks in the kitchen, the old toaster making its small contribution to the noise and excitement and a feast that would have filled at least 10 people. After supper and the firework show had finally finished, around 2 am, Raina plodded slowly up the stairs to her room, feeling as if nothing in the world could ever upset her again.
Then and finally in September she found herself looking upon an unfamiliar sight. Durmstrang Institute was, even for a witch who had grown up around magic all her life, astounding. Ghosts flew everywhere, ghouls lurked around in the shadows and enchantments of all sorts popped up here and there all over the castle. In her first year Raina learned about where in the grounds was forbidden and what a fubbleworm was. Even after spending almost a whole year at Durmstrang Raina came home for the holidays with a thirst for more. The whole first holidays were spent showing off to her little brothers about what she had seen and learnt there. In her first year Raina had also made two friends (and many enemies); Patricia Klosav and Kaline Petrovich. During her second year Raina felt as if she was home again, seeing her friends and the people that had become a sort of extended family to her and those familiar walls of the castle.
Raina was now about to begin her third year and was looking forward to it especially now that they were up to the point of learning to make deadly potions in potions. What will happen this year… is all up in the stars if you have the patience to read them.
[Special Talents/Info:] Raina doesn’t really have any special witch talents… the one talent she does seem to have is always getting in trouble. She and her friends have a great knack for getting into all sorts of trouble for all sorts of things and reasons.
[Favourite Class/Worst Class:] Raina’s favourite class would be potions and her least favourite flying; which is pretty self explanatory.
[Owl, Cat, Toad, Rat, or Tarantula?] Raina’s family own an owl named Screech who Raina often uses to send letters and receive mail etc. Raina though owns a black cat (who’s missing an ear) named Flicker.
[Anything Else?] Flicker is not as she appears.

You have snuck out of your house at night, a Prefect grabs your arm, demanding to know why you are out of bed after curfew. They threaten to report you, and take away pride points. Please post this scenario from your characters point of view. Beware of GodModing the Prefect’s actions. You don’t have to escape, just simply react realistically to the scene at hand. Creating valid or creative excuses is definitely a plus in this.
‘Patricia better appreciate this…after all its not everyday one of your friend’s sneaks out after curfew to personally deliver a get well card’, Raina muttered to herself, nervous and edgy. Something behind her creaked, breaking the still silence that had been hanging in the air. Raina spun around quickly, heart thumping painfully in her chest. There was nothing there. Letting out a sigh of relief she turned around and… thud! Raina looked up from the body she had knocked into. Glaring down at her was an angry Prefect. Swallowing a lump in her throat down, she racked her brain to come up with a good excuse.
“And what are you doing out of bed at this hour?” he said hissing like a snake. “I could easily report you and deduct pride points for this behaviour, even if it is from my own house,” he continued. Raina squinted in the dark and realised that he was from her own house. Looking back up into his face she tried to look as innocent as possible.
“Oh there is no need to do that really! You see I was…” Raina paused thinking very hard, “I was… was…”
“Yes? Was what?” the Prefect said impatiently.
“I was sleepwalking. You woke me up you see. I didn’t realise I was out of the dorms. So sorry… I’ll just go back to bed now. Goodnight,” Raina spoke very quickly before turning on her heel and walking as fast as humanly (or witchly) possible back to the dorms. On reaching the portrait to the common room she sighed heavily. ‘That was close. No more sleepwalking for me… not until tomorrow anyway,’ she thought before letting herself into the common room and trudging up to her bed.
The next morning she saw the same Prefect at breakfast. Catching his eye she smiled broadly and sitting down next to Kaline at the table told her all about last night’s sleepwalking misfortune.
