Eric knocked on Ingrid's door. He was bored and decided to take a trip over to her place. He knew he should have owled or something before heading over, but it was a last minute decision.

Ingrid heard a knock on her door. She hurried from the kitchen to answer it. When she opened it, much to her surprise, Eric stood on the other side. This was really unexpected, and it took Ingrid a few minutes to realize that she hadn't said anything yet.
"Oh, Eric! I wasn't expecting you. Come in and make yourself at home."
She opened the door even wider to allow him entrance. Then, she hurried to the kitchen. "I'll be done in just a sec," she called.

"Take your time," he said as he entered her house. He put his hand deep into his jean pockets, not sure what to really do with them. He slowly walked to the kitchen, taking in all the stuff in Ingrid's house. "Nice place you got here," he said as he entered the kitchen.

Ingrid turned slightly to smile at him. "Thanks, I wasn't sure if I could afford it at first. Dad said that if I wanted a place I'd have to pay for it myself. My brother ended up helping me a little." All the time she'd been talking, Ingrid had finished with preparing some food. She was still having trouble adjusting to her new life, but she was doing better. "So, what's going on in your life right now?" she asked interestedly.

"It's been crazy," he said, recalling the events that occurred over the past week. "That's why I needed a break. Thought I stop by and see you. It's been a while."

"Yeah it has. We didn't really talk much last year. Now, we're in our last year. Do you think we'll actually see each other after this?" Ingrid realized that she probably sounded like a typical girl. She was worried about not seeing any of her classmates. After all, this was a very big country. Who knew where all of them would go? Her father would probably lock her up somewhere and make her work for him. She sighed at the mere thought of it. Her father scared her.

"Yeah," Eric agreed. "Well, hopefully, we'll get to hang out." Ingrid has been the only constant person in his life since he went to Durmstrang. The secret he has been keeping inside this past week was about to burst out of him, and he knew that he could trust Ingrid. She, after all, told him that she was a vampire. "I have something to confess," he said quietly. "Remember all those time I was in the library, researching and stuff. I was really looking up my mother. My father finally told me, after a long long fight. I found out...my mother was a muggle. But, my step-mother killed her."

Ingrid didn't know what so say. She felt honored that Eric could share this with her, but she didn't know how to respond. There wasn't much you could say. Ingrid moved a little closer to Eric and said, "I'm sorry Eric. At least now you know." She wanted to give him a hug, but she wasn't sure if he'd want one. She started to go through the motions but stopped herself before she did. Afterall, he might just want to be left alone or something. "Is there anything I can do?" she asked simply.

"What is there for me to do," he said. He just stared down at his feet. Just saying it outloud made him realize just how real it was. He hasn't repeated the story to anyone. The story has been sitting in his head for a whole week and he was finally able to get it out. He has been sufficating, dying slowly inside. He knew he could no longer live with his father and the murderer of his mother. He wasn't sure what hurt more. The fact that he wasn't a pure-blood or that his step-mother killed his muggle mother. "Actually, there's something you can do," he said, looking up. "Can I move in with you?"

At first, Ingrid felt a little shocked at his question. Then, she gave him a small smile. "Of course you can," she said. "Actually, I might have to give it to you after a while. However, I would like it if you'd come to live here. You could have the spare room for yourself. Just let me know when you'd like to move in." Ingrid was actually very happy that Eric had asked to live with her, but she tried to hide what she was feeling. After all, right now Eric needed her, and it was him that needed to be concentrated on.

"Really," Eric said, surprised. It was obvious that he didn't expect her to say yes, but she did. "Well, I'll have to go home and get some stuff. I dont' have alot of stuff, and I won't be too much of a bother, really." He was glad that he was finally able to get away from the house and be able to live on his own. "Well, how about when...you're you know..." He wanted to talk to her about her vampirism, but he didn't know how to bring it up. He was just grateful that she was willing to help out.

Ingrid knew immediately what he was trying to talk about. "You won't have to worry about the vampire thing. I won't bite you or anything like that, so you won't have to think about that." She had gotten her urges under control, but what she was experiencing now was a lot worse. "How soon would you want to move in? I could have the room all cleaned up and everything for you. I'm sure we could magic it up a bit."

"Well, I can probably move in by next week," Eric said after some thought. "As long as that's okay with you."

"That's fine with me," Ingrid said. She made a mental note to clean out the room. Not that it was very cluttered. She didn't have that much stuff. "Is there anything I can do for you until then? And is there anything I can do to make your room more homey?" Ingrid wanted to make sure that Eric was a little happy here even if he couldn't be completely content.

"No, thanks," he said to Ingrid, showing how grateful he really was. "I'm just glad that you're letting me stay. And, I swear, as soon as I get money, I'll help you pay rent or anything. I got an internship at the ministry, and I'm hoping to get a full time job with that."

"You don't have to worry about the rent," Ingrid said. "The only thing you have to pay for is anything you buy for you. By the way, do you like interning atthe ministry?" Ingrid was curious about interning and the ministry. When her father worked there, he had never answered any of her questions. Mostly he just told her to shut up.

"It's okay," he said, shrugging his shoulders. "They haven't really asked me to do much. But, I'm sure it would get better later on."

Ingrid nodded her head. That made sense to her. "They're probably giving you a breaking in period. That way you can get used to things and stuff," she said. She thought it was great that Eric had a job, and she couldn't help but be a little envious. Still, at least he had that to do to keephim busy.

"Have you given any thoughts on what you wanted to do after you finish school," he asked curiously.

"I have, but I probably won't be able to do anything after I finish school," she said. "There are some things going on that will make it hard for me to get a job." She started fidgeting with her hands and playing with her hair. This subject was very delicate at the moment, and she wasn't sure how far she should get into it.

"Oh okay," Eric said, dropping the subject. "Well, I better go home and pack my stuff. I'll give you an owl when I'll be moving in."

Ingrid nodded. "That sounds good," she said. "I'll have things cleaned out. Oh, you're room is the one on the right. If you want, you can look at it just to make sure that you're sure you want to live with me in this little place."

"I'm sure it's fine," Eric said, walking out the door. He really didn't matter. As long as it's a room away from his father and step-mother, he didn't care. "I'll see you next week. Bye."
